Human caravan parks up for Veterans Week Of Golf

Russell Williams and Craig Hams from the Leongatha Golf Club in Mexico were among the Veterans Week Of Golf players to manage a sneak Saturday round today.

THE 2026 Veterans Week Of Golf circus has rolled into Nambuca and pitched its tent with delicious conditions on promise.

A capacity field of 144 will line-up for four days of furious and friendly competition on the championship Island layout.

There are locals keen to show their home track smarts but the majority are visitors – from as far afield as 1770, Mackay and Maryborough in Pauline Land through to Leongatha and Heidelberg and a swag of happy campers from the NSW South Coast, Sydney, the  Central Coast and The Gong.

This will generate great income for the club and for the Nambucca Valley, as many of the competitiors arrived yesterday to get a sly pre-comp comp round in on Saturday.

Many of the players follow the NSW Veterans Golf Association Tournament trail so Nambucca is part of a potential weeks-long winter escape.

The tournament kicks off on Monday with a medley Irish Team stableford, followed by the main event single stableford rounds on Tuesday and Thursday before a gentle wind down on Friday with a medley Canadian Foursome.

The massive week at the Nambucca Heads course will be capped by the 36-hole Island Classic on Saturday and Sunday 29-30 August.
