At the Nambucca Heads Island Golf Course on Saturday it was a day out for the Daryls in the Nambucca Liquor men’s Monthly Medal stroke round.

Darrell Flanders (10 handicap) carded 67 nett to head home Daryl Wall (also 10) on 70 in Div 1.
Flanders had 77 off the stick including birds on the tricky dogleg par fours of 10 and 14.
Peter Farrell (5) claimed the gross with 75 while Sue Brooks (14) had a cracking 66 nett for the actual Div 1 win but not being a boy named Sue in the words of Johnny Cash made do with a $40 Local Liquor voucher.
Steve Frost (15) played to his mark to win the Div 2 medal including a bird on 13 after an eight-hole journey on the bogey train around the front.
Fellow 15-handicapper Paul Ryan was runner-up on 71 nett and Cooper Garland (also 15) – one of a number of visitors from Kew – secured the gross with 86.
Kaleb Stewart (28) from Worrigee Links at Nowra had 69 nett for the Div 3 medal salute, one clear of Kevin Wilson (21).
In-form Ben Venner (22) took the gross on 94.
The day’s sponsor, Peter Bush, sculled the longest putt on the 1st for the Ecomist prize pack and nearest the pins went to Rick Heywood on 5, Simon Day on 7, Geoff McCann on 8 and Venner on 15. Greg McCoy can look forward to one of Steve Ward’s amazing meals thanks to the Pizza This Pizza That voucher on 13 and Rick Heywood scored the $65 Pro Pin ker-ching on the last.
Nambucca Junior Champion – no longer a junior – has been MIA since starting work teaching at John Paul College at Coffs but will no doubt be back soon to hurt trees at The Island.

John Morgan (14) had 36 points to win Div 1, two ahead of Peter Miller (15). Ross Morpuss (24) carded 36 points to take Div 2, one clear of Paul McElhinney (25).
Neil Duffus binned the put from afar on the opener and flag-pests were Daniel Phelps on 5, Morgan on 7, Bryce McCarroll on 8 and Peter Farrell on 15. Paddy Byrne banked the $60 Pro Pin on 18 and Darrell Flanders capped a cheesey good week with pizza on 13.
Jenny Thorne (27) found berserker mode with 40 points to slay the women’s single stableford Div 2 on Wednesday 29 April.
Parring the 5th, 16th and 18th, Thorne clicked to the clubhouse with 93 off the stick, seven points clear of Deb Booth (43).
Kerrie Eichorn (8) had 35 points to claim bragging rights in Div 1, two ahead of Sue Brooks in a competition which doubled as a Top 10 qualifying round.
Pins on 5 were shared by Deidre Fletcher and Judith Boyle, while Brooks was closest on 13 and Fletcher swooped for the $35 Pro Pin on the last.
Kempsey’s Rodney Kinnear (16) smashed with 41 points to win the Valla Tavern medley stableford on Tuesday 28 April.
Ball run went down to 28 points with Bruce Fleming the last to collect. Michael Tarleton signed his name on the pin on 5, Stuart Johnston on 13 and Colin Habgood on 15.
