About the Club
At the Nambucca Heads Island Golf Club, we value respect, tradition, professionalism, inclusivity, and environmental responsibility while fostering a community-focused and sustainable atmosphere for everyone who enjoys the game.
These principles create a solid foundation for the sport to thrive and for participants to have a rewarding experience both on and off the course.
The History of the Club
The Club was originally a 9-hole course on Stuart Island in the Nambucca River. However, in 1992, the Club opened an additional nine holes designed by renowned course designer Ross Watson. With minimal changes since then, the layout is one of the most strategically challenging on the Mid North Coast of NSW.
The Clubhouse has evolved over the years and, due to its location, boasts a magnificent view of the Nambucca River. It’s a fantastic spot to relax after a golf round or enjoy a meal at The Island Restaurant.
The Board & Committees
The Board of Directors works on a volunteer basis to provide leadership and strategic guidance for the club. The Board members, as elected by the membership of Nambucca Heads Island Golf Club are:
PRESIDENT: Geoff Harris
VICE PRESIDENT: Geoff Brookes
TREASURER: Gary Scott
GOLF DIRECTOR: Henny Oldenhove
DIRECTORS: Nathan Ison, Chris Knight and Lyn Parkes
The Committees at the club are as follows:
FINANCE & GOVERNANCE: This committee is responsible for providing recommendations and analysis to the Board on financial performance, strategic business opportunities and the review of Rules and By-Laws. Chair – Gary Scott.
GOLF OPERATIONS: The Match and Women’s Committee report to the Golf Operations Committee (GOC). The GOC is responsible for the overall coordination and promotion of golf at NHIGC, particularly major events, the fixture list and liaison with the various golf associations. The Match Committee reviews the rules and implements the fixture list. The Chair of the Match Committee is also referred to as the Captain. Chair – Henny Oldenhove.
GREENS COMMITTEE: This committee assists the Head Superintendent with all golf course matters, including volunteer coordination. Chair – Geoff Brooks.
In addition to the Board and Sub-Committees, the club has two Sections. The Sections are semi-autonomous special interest groups that must comply with all Club Rules and By-Laws. They may also have additional rules that must be consistent with the Club’s rules and By-Laws that apply to their memberships. The Sections are:
WOMEN’S GOLF: Responsible for all women’s only golf events and women’s golf social and fundraising activities.
SQUASH: Responsible for all organised social and competitive squash games.
